Welcome to the Anglo-French Lawyers Group
The Anglo-French Lawyers Group was founded in France in 2002 by internationally-experienced French Lawyers to provide English-language legal services in French and international family law, including proceedings under the various Hague Conventions, cross-border child abduction; French Property purchase and litigation, French wills and inheritance. The Group works with a network of experienced avocats, notaires, overseas lawyers and legal experts throughout France, the U.K. and the U.S.
French Family Law
As dual qualified, English-speaking French lawyers (U.K. and French Bars) our avocats specialize in cross-jurisdictional international family law and divorce. The Group handles all aspects of French family law: divorce, separation, alimony, custody issues, Hague Convention Proceedings, Cross-border child abduction; and marriage regimes.
French Property Purchase
Many non-French law firms provide “legal advice” on the purchase of property in France without ever having qualified in French law or stepped inside a French Court. The Group’s avocats are in court every day and have practical experience as to the legal conflicts that can arise after the deed of sale is signed.
The Group’s avocats provide a range of services to facilitate the purchase of property in France at significant savings to comparable services in the U.K. Each service is designed to meet the needs of the individual buyer or seller and can include advice on ownership regimes (SCI/Tontine) and inheritance advice.
French Property Litigation
The Group’s avocats and network handle a wide range of French property–related disputes, involving deeds of sale, building and renovation works and easements, lease-backs, swimming pools, farming rights and border disputes.
French Inheritance
French inheritance laws govern inheritance provisions for all real estate property on French soil. Residents of England, or other countries, who own a house in France are subject to French inheritance law. Avocats at the Anglo-French Lawyers’ Group provide inheritance advice to expatriates throughout France and abroad.
French Wills
In France, notaires will provide some free advice and assistance in the preparation of wills. At Anglo-French Lawyers’ Group, avocats fully explain the process of preparing a French will so clients may better interact with their notaries, or they will assist in translating the client’s wishes to the notaire. In other cases, the Group’s avocats assist clients in the preparation and registration of their will with the Central Registry.
Avocats of the Anglo-French Lawyers’ Group are French-based and serve clients nationwide and internationally through its wide network of English-speaking avocats and notaires. All avocats within the Group, or those recommended by the Group are highly experienced, fully-qualified members of the Ordre des Avocats or overseas Bar Associations.
